Mike AndrewsMike Andrews Earns Accreditation in Specialized Physical Therapy Techniques

Mike Andrews, physical therapist at Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine in Genoa is one of four people in the world now accredited by the McConnell Institute as a certified McConnell practitioner. The McConnell Institute, based near Sydney, Australia, teaches techniques designed to help to alleviate pain, facilitate healing, and promote accelerated rehabilitation from an acute injury or chronic orthopedic problems. Many college and university physical therapy education programs now include instruction in basic McConnell taping techniques.

Andrews completed extensive coursework and independent study, and then passed a comprehensive practical examination this month. Introduced to McConnell techniques over 20 years ago by Jenny McConnell, founder of the Institute, Andrews has continued to take McConnell’s courses as research has evolved. Andrews has taken all the available McConnell Institute continuing education courses and his recent accreditation certifies that he has mastered all of their evaluation and treatment techniques and has a solid understanding of all related research studies.

Mike Andrews is a Maine native and a 1988 graduate of the University of New England in southern Maine. He lives in Genoa with his wife Kristen and their three children. Andrews and his wife began an online DeKalb County bird watching group six years ago, winning a DeKalb Pride Award in 2008 for their efforts. Mike also runs two Cub Scout dens and is the Assistant Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 117 in Genoa/Kingston. He runs the pack’s Hiking Club and is the Pack Trainer. He is currently working on completing the requirements for earning the prestigious Wood Badge.
