Unlimited Performance 5K Run 2009
The 2nd annual Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine 5K Charity run was held on Saturday, June 20 at the old Kishwaukee Community Hospital. It was a beautiful, sunny day that saw 180 runners and walkers take part in the 3.1 mile event. The event was a charity run with all proceeds, $2,148.00, being donated to the DeKalb County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The overall winner was Tyson Kinsley of Sycamore with a new course record time of 16:33. Tyson led a group of local runners that finished with 8 of the top 10 places, only to be broken up by David Gramer of Rockford and Kyle White of Lake Villa. The overall female winner was Jamie Towle of Somonauk who finished 16th overall with a time of 22:04. Although the run was very competitive for a number of runners, it was also meant for each individual to test their personal fitness abilities. The number of runners ranged in age from 7 to 75. All runners received a goody bag and t-shirt prior to the run and were treated to post race food, water, stretching, massage and a number of raffle prizes. The local community was very generous with financial sponsorships, product donations, time and effort that allowed us to present age group awards, raffle prizes and post race food and drink for all competitors and approximately 50 volunteers. Without a strong commitment from both the local community and Kishwaukee Community Hospital we would have had a very difficult time in pulling this run together and making it as successful as it was, for this the staff at Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine would like to thank all those who helped with the event.
